Kona Typica Mejorado, Washed Anaerobic Ferment, Medium Light Roast, 200g
Flavor Profile: Fuji apple • Blood orange • Bright acidity
This light-medium roast Kona Mejorado offers a crisp and structured cup with vibrant clarity. As the first Mejorado we’ve encountered grown in Kona, it presents a distinctive expression of the variety on the island.
Typica Mejorado is a rare coffee variety with genetic roots connected to Ethiopian landrace coffees. Known for its aromatic clarity and lively acidity, it has become increasingly respected among specialty producers.
This 2025 harvest micro-lot was produced by Kraig and his team at Kona Farm Direct. The coffee undergoes a 72-hour anaerobic yeast fermentation in sealed tanks before being fully washed, creating a layered and expressive cup while maintaining the clean structure expected from Kona.
We’ve found that an iced pour-over highlights the fruit character particularly well. As a hot pour-over, the cup evolves as it cools, revealing different dimensions from the first sip to the last.
A thoughtful and distinctive Kona for those who enjoy exploring nuance in the cup.
